Most of you know I love Hannah Montana. You make fun of me but it’s just true so I’ll deal with your insults and sneers later. I read this earlier and gotta say I disagree… Anyone heard of Kanye? Bernie Madoff? Vick? Chris Brown?
Miley Cyrus: Worst Celebrity Influence of 2009 By Dana Flax
In a somewhat shocking turn of events, Miley Cyrus has been named the worst celebrity influence of 2009 by a poll conducted with tweens and teens. (OK, maybe it’s not so shocking when you consider the “slant eyes” picture and the pole-dancing routine.)
Taking 42% of the votes, Miley even beat No. 2 Britney Spears and No. 3 Kanye West (for Pete’s sake!) in the online poll. But, why, kids?
“I think Miley is in an interesting space where she is trying to graduate from being ‘Hannah Montana’ and a Disney channel celebrity and coming into her own and having a career beyond Disney,” said Stephanie Cohen, editor of JSYK.com (the AOL-owned tween site that conducted the poll.)
“I think her fans still want her to be the sweet Hannah Montana and she is trying to age up … Parents are definitely resisting it,” Cohen told Reuters.
Cohen also offered fellow teen singer Taylor Swift as antidote to Miley’s controversial “not a girl, not yet a woman” antics.
“I think Taylor Swift has done a great job of showing her true self and coming across as very sweet and down to earth. A lot of her songs are about the underdog and teens can really relate to her,” said Cohen.
Well, Miley may have gotten herself into a few sticky situations this year, but have you heard about this Noah Cyrus character? We hear she’s the true blue pole-dancin’ badass of the Cyrus clan.

tony you have a point with the whole chris brown thing, but miley’s situation is way different. She has made a name for herself as a disney icon. The audience that she attracts are young girls. They look up to her. If they see superstar miley dancing on a pole then they are going to want to do that too. She is also only 16 years old, wearing skimpy clothes and dancing on poles and shaking her groove-thang in little shorts. Parents aren’t going to want their daughters to dress or act like that. Also, the parents know who her father is and know that in the past he had trouble with drugs or alcohol. When Miley first came out, he stated that he was going to watch out for her and make sure she doesn’t get caught up in the scandals of being a celebrity. I know people think that being a celebrity automatically drags you into scandals, but look at Taylor Swift, Selena Gomez, Demi Lovato, The Jonas Bros, Zach Efron…they still have a positive image.
